52°North contributed expertise on Sensor Web technologies to the “Handbook of best practices for open fixed observations”. Partners of the FixO3 (Fixed-Point Open Ocean Observatory) Network Community collaborated by collecting, reviewing and compiling current best practices for carrying out operations at fixed-point observatories.
52°North is Google Summer of Code 2017 Mentoring Organization
For its 6th year in a row, 52°North has been chosen from a pool of 400 applications to be one of 201 open source projects to participate as a mentoring organization in the Google Summer of Code 2017! The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program that offers students stipends to write code for Open Source projects. This year’s stipend recipients receive $ 6000 for 3 months of successful software development.more >
Event-based Dissemination and Processing of Geospatial Information @ AGILE 2017
52°North announces the AGILE pre-conference workshop “Event-based Dissemination and Processing of Geospatial Information”. It will take place on May 9th, 2017. This full day workshop focuses on the potential of event-based architectures in geospatial applications (e.g. disaster management, environmental monitoring, or public security) and aims to set up a corresponding research agenda.
Geospatial Sensor Webs 2017 – save the dates!
The 52°North Initiative currently organizes its 2nd conference on geospatial sensor webs. It will address various aspects regarding the challenges of turning data into information in the Sensor Web. The conference will be held in conjunction with the 5th Annual Sensor Web Workshop.
