Citizens test apps to improve traffic flow
Chemnitz, the last of the three cities to start testing the CITRAM (Citizen Science for Traffic Management) technology, just recently started its pilot project to further environmentally-friendly urban tranport. The smartphone apps [ui!]ecomat and enviroCarr help drivers adapt their driving styles according to traffic light synchronization.
Hamm kicked off the testing phase in mid June, with Krefeld following shortly after. Since the beginning of the testing phase, close to 600 tracks have been recorded.
