52°North's expertise in Sensor Web Enablement was in demand at a recent Sensor Web Event organized by Geonvoum, the Dutch National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) executive committee. The event comprised two day long sessions. On June 22nd, 52°North prepared and held a training session about the OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) framework. This workshop, which took place in Amersfoort (The Netherlands), introduced approximately 30 participants to the SWE architecture and practical applications. Furthermore, the participants were able to try out the Sensor Observation Service (SOS) interface during a hands-on exercise and gain direct experience on how an SOS can be used in practice.

The Sensor Web Community announces a new Sensor Observation Service release! The SOS 3.2.0 contains a variety of new features, source code optimization and bug fixes.

The winners of this year's 52°North Student Innovation Prize presented their winning concepts at the recent "Geoinformatik 2011 - Geochange" conference in Münster. This innovation prize motivates students to contribute their own ideas and concepts for developing innovative techologies and applications in the field of geoinformatics.
