The ILWIS community is pleased to announce a beta release of ILWIS 3.8.! This release mainly focuses on vastly improved visualization functionality. 2D and 3D visualization has been greatly enhanced. ILWIS 3.8 enables users to create 3D visualization of all types of maps and animations almost on the fly. Animations have been greatly improved and function now as a normal (animated) layer in a map window. On the fly reprojection/resampling of raster maps makes it possible to display multiple raster maps with different georeferences. In addition, OpenGL has greatly improved rendering performance.

52°North's expertise in Sensor Web Enablement was in demand at a recent Sensor Web Event organized by Geonvoum, the Dutch National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) executive committee. The event comprised two day long sessions. On June 22nd, 52°North prepared and held a training session about the OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) framework. This workshop, which took place in Amersfoort (The Netherlands), introduced approximately 30 participants to the SWE architecture and practical applications. Furthermore, the participants were able to try out the Sensor Observation Service (SOS) interface during a hands-on exercise and gain direct experience on how an SOS can be used in practice.

The Sensor Web Community announces a new Sensor Observation Service release! The SOS 3.2.0 contains a variety of new features, source code optimization and bug fixes.
