Seamless Data and Model Integration
A modern interoperable cloud infrastructure connecting data silos and integrating models
Co-designed and co-developed with stakeholders in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation within the EU funded project DIRECTED, the Data Fabric is an open-source, modular solution designed to deliver meaningful information to end-users for decision support. It achieves this by connecting heterogeneous data silos and integrating various models through open standards.
The front end employs a user centric design, using the Open Pioneer Trails framework to transform data layers into information products. The Data Fabric is linked to SEI’s knowledge hub, which offers explanations and detailed resources for key terms essential for a well informed user experience. The Data Fabric is composed of several established Open Source Solutions including pygeoapi and GeoServer.

Benefits
- Co-designed and co-developed UI that meets the needs of DRM and CCA experts
- Open standards based interoperable data and model integration
- Embedded model execution to assess different scenarios
- Modular and extendable architecture for more data or specific models
- Integrated with external knowledge resources, fostering a responsible and conscious use of the Data Fabric
- Cloud based solution
Fields of Application
Risk and climate change approved, i.e. on pluvial, fluvial and coastal flooding, crop security and heat stress, but also applicable to the vast majority of spatial and spatiotemporal data sources, models and information products.
