Helping to change the world one line of code at a time
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program that focuses on introducing developers to open source software development. Contributors receive stipends to work on a programming project with an open source organization for a set period of time. At 52°North, we pair the students with mentors and embed their work in the context of ongoing research projects. Hence, GSoC contributors gain valuable exposure to real-world software development scenarios and advance their developer skills by bringing the agile methodology into practice. They also have the opportunity to work in areas related to their technical backgrounds, academic pursuits and professions. In turn, we are able to improve our own software, move forward in our projects as well as identify and draw in new developers more easily. This helps us to expand our Open Source community.
52°North has been a successful mentoring organization since 2012.
If you are looking to participate, check out our GSoC wiki pages : GSoC for Contributors and Project Ideas 2024.
We look forward to your applications!
