Creating Interfaces – Kick-Off Meeting

Project members met to define common goals and approaches

From the 18th to 20th of June, 23 participants from Romania, Poland, UK, Sweden, the US and Germany met at EIFER in Karlsruhe for the kick-off workshop of the project “Creating Interfaces – Building capacity for integrated governance at the Food-Water-Energy-nexus (FWE) in cities on the water”. In addition to intense work on the further definition of our common goals and approaches, the participants had the opportunity to visit the “Energieberg” Karlsruhe as well as the Rhine River and to enjoy the view of Karlsruhe and the surrounding area as far as France from the Karlsruher Turmberg.

52°North GI Innovations Webinar Series kicked off with “How to Apply Sensor Web Technologies to Provide INSPIRE-compliant Download Services for Observation Data”. Alexander Kotsev (JRC), Sylvain Grellet and Mickael Beaufils (BGRM) and Simon Jirka (52°North) discussed how to publish observation data via the SOS within the context of INSPIRE.

First Version of Copernicus Data & Information Access Service (DIAS)

52°North contributes to WEkEO (We knowledge Earth Observation)

As part of the Copernicus Programme’s 20th anniversary, EUMETSAT, ECMWF and Mercator Océan recently revealed the first version of the Copernicus Data & Information Access Service (DIAS) for environmental data. It is called WEkEO (short for “We knowledge Earth Observation”). 52°North and con terra, as part of a larger consortium led by CGI Germany, contributed to the development of the underlying service infrastructure. They provided expertise in the fields of Earth Observation metadata management, as well as harmonized and interoperable access to the data.
