Intern for a day
52°North recently welcomed Sarah as a student intern for a day. The thirteen-year-old is currently trying out different jobs as part of her career orientation. Since she has already been exposed to computer science through her IT course at school, we are delighted that she chose to gain insight into 52°North’s work.
During her day at 52°North, Sarah worked on a number of tasks using QGIS and looked over our shoulders to get an idea of our daily work. She had a lot of fun discovering interesting aspects of working with GIS and geospatial data. As a nice change of pace, she took one of the “office dogs”, the pug Paule, for a walk after lunch – but not before she also gave us all some delicious homemade cookies for dessert!
It was great to see Sarah’s joy and diligence in performing her tasks and her interest in our current project work. We were glad to give her the opportunity to get an idea of what it’s like to work as a geoinformatics scientist.
She’s always welcome to return for another internship.
