The DDGI invites you to the 12th GeoForum, November 7 – 8 , 2024 in Berlin. This event will demonstrate the possibilities offered by geoinformation technologies for identifying, assessing and classifying risks, as well as avoiding or minimizing them. 52°North’s Sebastian Drost talks about urban climate monitoring using KomMonitor. The open source software KomMonitor, in use in many NRW municipalities, offers an ideal basis for setting up urban climate monitoring. It enables spatio-temporal monitoring of municipal geodata and statistics and supports the answering of both city-wide and small-scale questions on urban planning and development. For example, it is possible to assess the extent to which vulnerable population groups are affected by integrating and analyzing indicators of heat stress at different scales, as well as investigating catchment areas for cool spots within a city.
