EDIS als Finalist im eGovernment Wettbewerb

EDIS – EchtzeitDatenInfrastruktur für PEGELONLINE – Projekt bewirbt sich um den Publikumspreis 2023

Auch in diesem Jahr findet der eGovernment-Wettbewerb statt. In fünf Kategorien werden Projekte und Behörden ausgezeichnet. Das Informations Technik Zentrum Bund (ITZBund) sowie die Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung des Bundes (WSV) haben ihr gemeinsam mit 52°North entwickeltes Projekt (“EDIS – EchtzeitdatenInfraStruktur für PEGELONLINE”) für die Kategorie “Nachhaltigkeit durch Digitalisierung” eingereicht. Nun ist das Projekt Finalist für den Publikumspreis 2023

Vom 06. Juli bis 12. September 2023 wählt das Publikum aus allen Finalisten seinen Favoriten. Informationen zum Projekt sowie die Möglichkeit zur Stimmabgabe finden Sie online.

Decision Support System Component Tests for MariData Project

The ship simulator of the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences consists of an imitation of a ship’s bridge with corresponding control panels and screens for monitoring ship parameters and displaying cartographic material. A video projected on a curved screen surrounding the bridge gives the “ship’s crew” the feeling that they are sailing on the English Channel or any other chosen route. Different weather conditions can be selected for this projection, and although the bridge itself does not move, the video of waves hitting the ship from the sides makes the passengers sway in the desire to compensate for real waves.

Climate Services @ Data Week Leipzig

Climate Services using Open Data & Open API Standards

From June 26 to June 30, 2023, the second Data Week took place in the historic New City Hall in Leipzig, Germany. The main theme of the conference was urban development and planning. On Monday, the presentations and keynotes focused on the European Green Deal projects and Data Cubes as a digital data resource to create a geospatial ecosystem for Europe. Tuesday’s focus was on FAIR data, various urban planning topics and different data spaces such as agriculture, biodiversity and climate. 52°North’s Johannes Schnell opened the Climate Data Space panel with a presentation of current projects. Wednesday evolved around AI and the need for semantics when providing data to make it machine readable and processable. The last two days were dedicated to workshops and discussions on sustainability and reproducibility of AI.

At a time when geospatial technology plays a critical role in shaping our understanding of the world, a group of ifgi master’s students had the opportunity to delve into the realm of geospatial innovation during their visit to con terra GmbH and 52°North GmbH. Both companies have made significant contributions to the field, and this experience allowed the students to witness first-hand the cutting-edge technologies and groundbreaking solutions being developed.
