This year’s AGILE Conference on Geographic Information Science focuses on “Advancing Geoinformation Science for a Changing World”. Under this motto, 52°North partners collaborate to host workshops ranging from Sensor Web/Geoprocessing integration research, to interoperability testing strategies/procedures, to mixed source geospatial technology deployment.

52°North partners will present scalable solutions on how to deal with peak processing loads using existing IT infrastructures and the 52N OGC Web Processing Service at the upcoming FOSSGIS 2011 in Heidelberg. Using INSPIRE coordinate transformation as an example, the speaker will demonstrate how to create and use a hybrid cloud.

52°North confirms its support of national developments towards creating a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) for Germany. With the signing of the GDI.DE Charta, 52°North officially and actively supports

  • the development of strategies for provision, dissemination and use of geoinformation,
  • the optimization of geodata interoperability via use of geostandards,
  • the advancement of education and advanced training, as well as, research in the field of geoinformation,
  • the development of the use of geoinformation.

The 52°North Geoprocessing Community releases a new Web Processing Service Version. The WPS 2.0-RC6 contains the following new features:

  • an out-of-the-Box GRASS connector (no programming needed). A tutorial provides instructions on how to connect GRASS with the WPS. A list of processes is also available.
  • a new easy-to-use WebAdmin interface for WPS configuration. It is no longer necessary to manually change the XML files and low level code.
  • a new Windows Installer
  • improved KML Reader and Writers
  • several smaller bug fixes
