- con terra’s smartEditor goes open source -

con terra GmbH, specialist in the development and operation of spatial data infrastructures, and the 52°North Initiative for Geospatial Open Source Software GmbH establish a new 52°North Open Source Project on metadata management, based on con terra`s smartEditor software.

52°North is the main sponsor of the upcoming "Handling and Analyzing Spatio-temporal Data in R" Workshop in Münster. The workshop takes place from March 21 - 22, 2011 prior to the Spatial Statistics 2011 Conference 2011. Organized and hosted by the Institute for Geoinformatics (University of Muenster), it is open to researchers, developers, R programmers, R users, OSGEO users/developers interested in R.

- Semantic Web Journal: Call for Papers -

The Semantic Web Journal announces a call for papers for a Special Issue on Linked Spatiotemporal Data and Geo-Ontologies. This issue is an open-call follow up to the Linked Spatiotemporal Data 2010 workshop held in conjunction with the 6th International Conference on Geographic Information Science GIScience 2010. It aims to define the data, knowledge representations, reasoning methodologies, and additional tools needed to link locations seamlessly into the Web of Linked Data - significant aspects of the 52°North Semantics Community R & D agenda.

This year’s AGILE Conference on Geographic Information Science focuses on “Advancing Geoinformation Science for a Changing World”. Under this motto, 52°North partners collaborate to host workshops ranging from Sensor Web/Geoprocessing integration research, to interoperability testing strategies/procedures, to mixed source geospatial technology deployment.
