In September 2026, 52°North celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark this special milestone, we are organizing the 52°North Innovation Summit on September 22 & 23, 2026, in Münster, Germany.

The event will bring together partners, customers, leading researchers, and anyone interested in state-of-the-art Geo-IT to explore the current trajectories and future horizons of Open Source Geo-IT innovations. Our core discussions will center around key themes, including Geo AI, local and regional Digital Twins, and the next generation of Spatial Research Data Infrastructures. Join us as we look ahead to confront upcoming bottlenecks and unlock the untapped potential of next-generation spatial computing.

Core Innovation Tracks

1. Next-Gen Geospatial IT

We will explore innovative architectures, interoperable geodata ecosystems, and the evolution of highly scalable, real-time sensor networks. In addition, we will examine how emerging Geo IT technologies can empower researchers to address major global challenges, such as climate change.

2. Geo AI and Intelligent Analytics

Geo AI holds significant potential to address many challenges within existing spatial data infrastructures, ranging from enhancing data discovery capabilities to supporting tedious tasks such as metadata curation. In data analytics, Geo AI will enable novel ways to extract insights from large amounts of geospatial data and improve the understanding of currently unknown correlations.

3. Local and Regional Digital Twins

Digital Twins based on geospatial technologies will facilitate a better understanding of our world, the effects of changes and the evaluation of solutions for societal and environmental challenges.
