This year, over 2,800 mentors and organization administrators reviewed 9,107 proposals – submitted by 6,518 applicants. 1,220 GSoC contributors have been accepted from 73 countries and 52°North is thrilled to be mentoring two contributors!

This Geowebtalk will present current projects from research and industry that demonstrate how exciting and diverse the use of crowdsourcing in geo-related projects can be. The event is aimed at interested citizens as well as experts from government, science and industry. 52°North’s Simon Jirka and Matthes Rieke present examples of geo-crowdsourcing applications in traffic planning and management and environmental research.

52°North is happy to announce that we will mentor four contributors for Google Summer of Code 2023! The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program that offers contributors stipends to write code for Open Source projects. This year, over 2,400 mentors and organization administrators reviewed 7,723 proposals – submitted by 43,765 applicants from 160 countries – and selected 967 GSoC contributors from 65 countries !

The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program that offers contributors stipends to write code for Open Source projects. This year, 1,882 mentors and organization administrators reviewed 5,155 proposals – submitted by over 4,000 applicants from 96 countries – and selected 1,209 GSoC contributors accepted from 62 countries!more >
