SUMMARY:EGU General Assemly 2026
DESCRIPTION:The EGU General Assembly 2026 takes place from May 3 – 8\, 2026 in Vienna\, Austria.  It is a global gathering for geoscientists\, encompassing all facets of Earth\, planetary\, and space sciences. The EGU GA’s primary goal is to serve as a platform for scientists\, especially early career researchers\, to showcase their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience. \n52°North presents project work – we have posters\, presentations\, PICO talks\, and short courses! Topics range from enabling reproducible/reusable research\, codesign\, near real-time disaster risk management to LLMs and urban digital twinning. Our DIRECTED colleagues also present the Risk-Tandem Framework developed during the project. \n  \nMonday\, May 4\, 2026\nEGU26-9441 | Posters on site | ESSI3.4\nHall X4 | X4.135 \n16:15–18:00 The Data-to-Knowledge Package – A Framework for publishing reproducible and reusable analysis workflows in Earth System Science (Markus Konkol\, Simon Jirka\, Sami Domisch\, Merret Buurman\, Vanessa Bremerich\, and Astra Labuce) \nEGU26-19997 | ECS | Orals | NH10.6\nRoom 1.15/16  \n16:50–17:00 Co-developing interoperable disaster risk management solutions for climate resilience: Innovations in tools\, governance\, and communication from the DIRECTED Project\n(Max Steinhausen\, Tracy Irvine\, Pia-Johanna Schweizer\, Stefano Bagli\, Sukaina Bharwani\, Heiko Apel\, Benedikt Gräler\, Lydia Cumiskey\, Martin Drews\, Steffan Hochrainer-Stigler\, Tobias Conradt\, and Kai Schröter) \nEGU26-6437 | Orals | NH10.6\nRoom 1.15/16 \n17:40–17:50 A Cloud-Based DataFabric for Multi-Hazard Nowcasting and Near-Real-Time Disaster Risk Management: The Emilia-Romagna Case Study within the DIRECTED Project\n(Stefano Bagli\, Paolo Mazzoli\, Valerio Luzzi\, Francesca Renzi\, Marco Renzi\, Tommaso Redaelli\, Debora Cocchi\, Lydia Cumiskey\, Benedikt Gräler\, Clarissa Dondi\, Valeria Pancioli\, Christian Morollli\, Antonio Pesaresi\, Mirco Carlini\, Paolo Pedron\, AnnaMaria Pangalli\, Edoardo Lazzari\, and Max Steinhausen) \n  \nWednesday\, May 6\, 2026\nEGU26-20221 | ECS | PICO | ESSI1.7\nPICO spot 2 | PICO2.13 \n16:44–16:46 Using Large Language Models to Enhance Spatial Data Discovery in Spatial Data Infrastructures (James Okemwa Ondieki\, Matthes Rieke\, and Simon Jirka) \n  \nThursday\, May 7\, 2026\nEGU26-17814 | PICO | HS6.7 | Highlight\nPICO spot 1b | PICO1b.2 \n16:22–16:24 LINK Urban Digital Twinning (LINKUDT): Advancing Climate Adaptation and Planning Acceleration through Interoperable Digital Twin Ecosystems (Simon Jirka\, Jörg Radtke\, and Julia Reiß) \n  \nFriday\, May 8\, 2026\nSC2.11 | Co-organized by ESSI6/HS11/NP9\nRoom 0.55 \n10:45–12:30 Supporting the understanding and reuse of reproducible analysis workflows  (Markus Konkol\, Sadra Matmir\, Merret Buurman) \nEGU26-9081 | Posters on site | ESSI3.1\nHall X4 | X4.76 \n16:15–18:00 From Data Rocks to FAIR Peaks: With NFDI4Earth’s services towards Harmonized Metadata and User-Centered Tools for Earth System Research\n(Christin Henzen\, Nadia Aouadi\, Anna Brauer\, Robert Brylka\, Auriol Degbelo\, Jonas Grieb\, Ralf Klammer\, Markus Konkol\, Roland Koppe\, Kemeng Liu\, Tom Niers\, Daniel Nüst\, and Alexander Wellmann) \nEGU26-14106 | Posters on site | NH9.12\nHall X3 | X3.56 \n16:15–18:00 Applying the Risk-Tandem Framework for Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation: Lessons Learnt from the DIRECTED project (Pia-Johanna Schweizer and Franziska Hanf)
