SUMMARY:[:en]GIS Talk 2016[:]
DESCRIPTION:GIS Talk 2016 takes place from October 25 – 26\, 2016 in Munich. Experts\, users and decision makers meet to present and discuss the solutions GIS offers for IoT\, Smart Cities\, Industrie 4.0\, Digitalisation and Open Data. 52°North’s Dr. Simon Jirka presents Sensor Web use cases in the forum “Natur\, Environment and Resources“. The conference is in German. \nOctober 25\, 2016 13:00 – 17:00 \n“Sensor Web – Hydrological\, Oceanographic and Environmental Monitoring Use Cases” (Sensor Web – Anwendungsbeispiele aus Hydrologie\, Ozeanografie und Umweltmonitoring): Dr. Simon Jirka \nAbstract: Sensor Web technology’s capability to enable the interoperable exchange of measurement data increases steadily. In addition to the plug-and-play connection of sensors\, archives of measurement data can be accessed via Sensor Web interfaces. Dr. Jirka presents typcial use cases for Sensor Web components in various contexts. The examples cover hydrological applications\, marine sensor systems and the delivery of air quality data to the European Environment Agency (EEA).

SUMMARY:MMB & DFT 2016
DESCRIPTION:The 18th International GI/ITG Conference on “Measurement\, Modelling and Evaluation of Computing Systems” and “Dependability and Fault-Tolerance” (MMB & DFT 2016) takes place from April 4 – 6\, 2016 in Münster\, Germany. 52°North’s Dr. Christoph Stasch participates in the conference workshop “E-mobility and smart grids: challenges and opportunities“. He  is invited to hold a talk about the enviroCar project in the MMB/DFT Plenary. \nThe workshop “E-mobility and smart grids: challenges and opportunities” discusses challenges and opportunities that arise from the embedding of e-mobility and smart grids in an inter- and trans-disciplinary setting. Participants will discuss regulations and concepts that are able to ensure a successful integration of charging infrastructure for e-mobility and smart grids. The workshop is especially concerned with  the long-term effects of a large population of e-cars for the power grid. However\, appropriate measures to increase user acceptance of e-cars and how known mobility patterns of users can help to reduce the impact on the grid will be discussed! \nMonday\, April 4\, 2016\nWorkshop “E-mobility and smart grids: challenges and opportunities”\n\n14:30 – 15:00  “Open Analysis of Crowdsourced Car Sensor Data – the enviroCar project”
