SUMMARY:GeoIT Wherecamp Conference 2018
DESCRIPTION:The 8th GeoIT Wherecamp Conference focuses on the latest research insights around GeoIoT\, GNSS\, digital mapping\, (autonomous) mobility and spatial intelligence of the GeoIT domain including industry and academic institutions. 52°North presents work done on enviroCar – a Citizen Science platform for Sustainable Traffic. \nenviroCar is an open platform for collecting and analyzing car driven tracks. The collected tracks consist of GPS positions enriched with additional sensor information by utilizing the vehicle’s inertial diagnostic capabilities. Based on the sensor information\, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are estimated for petrol cars. Users have full control of their collected tracks and can share them in an anonymized fashion via an open API. Various analysis tools support the exploration of the data\, e.g. in map-based views or time-series charts. \nThis talk provides an overview on the enviroCar platform. It presents results from previous projects using enviroCar including an evaluation of traffic lights along major roads in Mönchengladbach. Finally\, it illustrates current research challenges by introducing the CITRAM project\, a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.

SUMMARY:[:en]Workshop on Integrating Geospatial and Statistical Standards 2017[:]
DESCRIPTION:Tools for Integrating Geospatial Statistical Analysis into Spatial Data Infrastructures\nDr. Ben Gräler presents “Tools for Integrating Geospatial Statistical Analysis into Spatial Data Infrastructures” in Session III – Challenges and solutions for creating Geospatial Statistical Outputs. The joint UNECE/UN-GGIM Workshop on Integrating Geospatial and Statistical Standards takes place November 6 – 8\, 2017 in Stockholm\, Sweden. It is part of the Conference of European Statisticians’ work program for 2017. The objective is to highlight how geospatial data sources\, methods\, and standards can be integrated into the production of official statistics\, and to identify a plan for future collaboration to support integration and interoperability of statistical and geospatial standards. \nAbstract: “Statistical analysis is performed with dedicated tools and software. A prominent example is the R software for statistical computing. We outline an approach for integrating statistical analysis implemented in R into existing spatial data infrastructures using Open Source tools. Our approach is based on standards defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)\, in particular the OGC Web Processing Service (WPS). The WPS offers an interoperable web service interface for describing and executing processes that transform some input to some output data (e.g. environmental models\, GIS operators\, etc.). In our approach\, users can upload annotated R scripts to web processing services enabling their re-use by any interested party. The R packages SOS4R and sensorweb4R are used to flexibly assess spatio-temporal data from Spatial Data Infrastructures in R. The Uncertainty Model Language (UncertML) is used to integrate uncertainty measures in the results of the statistical processing. The usage of the software tools is illustrated by an application running at the Belgian Interregional Environment Agency.”

SUMMARY:[:en]Dependence Modeling Tools for Risk Management[:]
DESCRIPTION:Risk in Complex Systems\n52°North’s Dr. Ben Gräler presents “Modeling Extremes with Local Spatial and Spatio-Temporal Vine Copulas” at the Workshop: Dependence Modeling Tools for Risk Management from October 2 – 5. 2017 in Montreal\, Canada. The workshop is part of the thematic semester “Risk in Complex Systems” at the CRM\, University of Montreal. It will address various challenges associated with dependence modeling. Several current issues will be considered\, including the construction of stochastic models and the development of inference procedures adapted to specific contexts involving complex data or large collections of variables. Special attention will be devoted to the study of the advantages and limitations of different approaches\, and to the computational challenges that need to be resolved. \nLeading international researchers from both academia and industry will meet to present their recent work in areas such as the construction of dependence structures\, statistical inference for copula models\, dependence modeling in econometrics\, finance\, and insurance\, spatio-temporal dependence models\, and graphical models.
