Description: AGRICAB aims to enhance agriculture & forestry planning and management processes through strengthened Earth Observation Capacity and better exploitation of satellite data available through GEONETCast.The project three main components are
- Sustained data access, linking satellite data providers with GEONETCast and providing the necessary tools to access the data
- Predictive modeling to translate data into information
- Tools, infrastructure and the knowledge to apply these to real-world circumstances
ILWIS and the software utilities provided by the Earth Observation Community, such as the GEONETCast Toolbox, will be used.

Description: The GEONETCast for and by Developing Countries (DevCoCast) project involves Developing Countries more closely in the GEONETCast initiative. GEONETCast provides reliable, worldwide and continuous access to adequate Earth Observation (EO) data and derived environmental information. It is a core infrastructure and early success of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). ITC's part in the project, was mainly as a capacity building partner, providing courseware and course content, as well as developing training materials. ILWIS and the software utilities provided by the Earth Observation Community, such as the GEONETCast Toolbox were used in this context.

Use of GEONETCast data streams for Early Warning and Food Security Assessment

Description: The project focuses on the establishment and installation of the pilot GEONETCast infrastructure and applications. Additional focus is on applied research to strengthen the early warning systems, preparedness and mitigation to drought, flood and other weather related hazards: strengthen agro meteorological services and contribute to the development of the Livelihoods Early Assessment and Protection (LEAP) software in Ethiopia. ILWIS and the software utilities provided by the Earth Observation Community, such as the GEONETCast Toolbox, are used to carry out this project.

Short-Term Technical Expertise (STE) for AMESD-SADC Capacity Building Effort

Description: This project covers the development of educational materials to support the AMESD SADC Services related to agriculture, drought and fires. ILWIS and the software utilities provided by the Earth Observation Community, such as the GEONETCast Toolbox, were used to carry out the project. ITC developed an AMESD SADC Toolbox plug-in, in collaboration with the AMESD-SADC partners.
