The first local conference focused on Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial in Central and Eastern Europe (FOSS4G CEE) was held in Prague. It attracted approximately 160 participants mainly from research and development. True to its slogan “exploring horizons”, 52°North demonstrated its penchant for innovation and addressing new topics, such as BigData.

Albert Remke, general manager of the 52°North R&D network and head of Innovation Management at the Esri Germany Group of companies, has been invited to join the advisory board of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Research in Visual Computing (Fraunhofer IGD) in Darmstadt, Germany. The Fraunhofer IGD is the world’s leading institute for applied research in Visual Computing. Research fields include, among others, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Virtual and Augmented Reality. The institute contributes to the Visual Computing research and develops prototypes, as well as turn-key solutions for early adopters in industry and public sector.
The Fraunhofer IGD belongs to the German Fraunhofer Society for the Advancement of Applied Research, which is the largest R&D association in Europe. It employs more than 20,000 people, mainly scientists and engineers. |
