The ILWIS community announces a new release: ILWIS 3.8.2! It introduces a few new features related to selections in vector maps and attribute tables, as well as a number of improvements. ITC's Martin Schouwenburg also considers an ILWIS 3.8.2.1 release in February and plans to integrate the Orfeo Toolbox for ILWIS 3.8.3.

The Sensor Web community wrapped up several software development projects and produced a number of new releases in the past few weeks. New Sensor Planning Service (SPS) and Sensor Observation Service (SOS) releases implement OGC 2.0 standards, the OX-Framework has been migrated to Maven, a Google Summer of Code project became a beta release and a development version of an importer for the SOS is available.

Tom Kunicki and Ivan Suftin from the USGS visited 52°North for a week long code sprint at the beginning of December. They worked together with 52°North's Benjamin Proß and Matthes Rieke to sucessfully revamp and customize the 52°North WPS.

The Fraunhofer FOKUS Institute held the first international Open Data Dialog conference in Berlin at the begining of December 2012. For two days, invited speakers presented and discussed ideas, policies, technologies and best practices in the field of Open Data.
