The Geoprocessing Community announces a new Web Processing Service maintenance release! The WPS 3.1.1 contains several bugfixes and a few improvements:

• Fixed issue with WPS4R
• Enabled DescribeProcess via pox and fixed some compliance issues
• Switched off excessive http logging
• Improved tests
• FlatFileDatabase improvements.

The 52°North Bridge Warning System - a 52°North and con terra collaboration - goes on tour with the FME World Tour 2013.  This exciting FME Server-based prototype collects sensor data and sends notifications to ensure safe passage under bridges.

For the second year in a row, 52°North has been chosen from a pool of 417 applications to be one of 177 open source projects to participate as a mentoring organization in the Google Summer of Code 2013. The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program that offers students stipends to write code for Open Source projects. Stipend recipients receive $ 5.000 for 3 months of software development.

52°North is pleased to announce the winners of the 52°North Student Innovation Prize for Geoinformatics 2012!

• Peter Broßeit from the Technische Universität Dresden in Germany has been awarded the 52°North Student Innovation Prize 2012 and
• Gerard Casas Saez from Barcelona’s Santa Teresa de Lisieux School in Spain has been awarded the 52°North Innovation Incentive Award.
