README for 52°North Earth Observation ISOD Toolbox version 1.4

The toolbox plug-in, together with the existing processing utilities of ILWIS 3.7 (or higher)
facilitates the user to easily integrate large amounts of environmental data, which is freely available from 
the internet on a global scale, into various applications related to weather, atmosphere, 
oceans, land, vegetation, water and environment.

   * download 52n-eo-isod-toolbox-1.4.zip and copy the zip-file within the ILWIS \Extensions sub-directory. Start ILWIS and the plugin can be used.
   * The installation is licensed under the GNU General Public License Version 2 (June 1991) and user guide documentation provided
     are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 License. You can find copies of both licenses within this 
     release bundle (GPL-v2.txt, CC-BY-NC-3.0.txt) in the root of the toolbox directory or at http://52north.org/communities/earth-observation/

Main New Features
------------
   * In the XML version 1.4 of the ISOD toolbox includes radiometric calibration of Landsat-8, conversion
     to Radiance, Reflectance (including sun angle correction) and Temperatures. 
   * A routine for partial import of large Geotif and Shape files was added.
   * Added under Web Mapping Services an item for visualization of the Global Forecasting System (GFS) of the NCEP 
   * Added under FEWSNET Global PET routine for daily retrieval PET to be used for products after 20140330
   * Added routines to retrieve and process NOAA STAR Vegetation products
   * Added routine to retrieve and process CHIRPS pentad and monthly rainfall (version 1.8)
   * Added routines to retrieve and process JRC – MARS ECMWF based meteorological data 
   * Added link to Climatology Resource for AgroClimatology (POWER), under Web Mapping Services

Code Changes
------------

   * All relevant batch - ILWIS Script routines are modified and updated. 
     All internet links have been checked and modified when the URL’s or the products have changed, to assure proper operation.
   * Changed the GWADI and TAMSAT (rainfall) server address / data directory location
   * Changed date stamp retrieval routine for the TAF retrieval
   * Changed some of the routines for retrieval of the C-Morph rainfall retrieval, currently supporting the C-Morph reprocessed version V1.0
   * Added routine for retrieval of daily PET from FEWSNET to be used for data after 20140330, bytes are not swaped any longer
   * Modified visualization of the MPE and RFS, added meta data description and legend

Installation
============

Installation instructions are provided in the Installation and User Guide, this guide can also be downloaded from http://52north.org/downloads/earth-observation/ISOD/toolbox

Make sure that Java, Irfanview, Notepad++, Panoply, etc. are locally available on your system. The link to these resources is also provided in the Installation and User Manual.  

Some 'golden' rules when using the toolbox under ILWIS
======================================================

   * Don’t use spaces in (sub-) directory or file names, instead use underscores;
   * Do not only use numbers as file names;
   * Do not work in multiple output directories;
   * Start ILWIS, navigate to your working directory and close ILWIS. Open ILWIS again to
     ensure that your current working directory is also the actual ILWIS working directory.
