The smartEditor project aims to provide a web editor to easily create and update ISO19115 / 19119 based metadata documents on geospatial data sets, services, series and applications and many more resources. It provides tools for metadata creation, maintenance and validation, addressing a wide range of metadata communities.

This project's software is accessible under the terms of the Apache 2.0 License.

The short-term and midterm project agenda is to

• extend the smartEditor to seamlessly interact with a broad range of metadata cataloging and publication systems;
• provide solutions to automatically generate metadata for different types of resources (one focus will be INSPIRE resources such as network services, geospatial data, applications);
• compile an automated lifecycle management for metadata in tight relation to the corresponding geospatial resources;
• interlink our work with other metadata projects.
