GSW Conference 2017 Banner2

Invitation and Call for Presentations

The 52°North Open Innovation Network invites presentation contributions for the conference and discussion topic suggestions for the workshop. This year’s motto “Geospatial Sensor Webs - from data to information in the Sensor Web” emphasizes the importance of Sensor Web technology in conjunction with tools for data analysis, processing, and visualization. The conference will cover the state and future directions of Sensor Web standards and technology, as well as the challenges of processing Sensor Web data.

The program offers two pre-conference tutorials on the afternoon of Monday, August 28th:

  • Introduction to Sensor Web technology (90 minutes): The tutorial provides an introduction to relevant Sensor Web concepts, as well as underlying OGC Sensor Web Enablement standards (e.g. OGC Sensor Observation Service, ISO/OGC Observations and Measurements, OGC Sensor Model Language). Participants are also familiarized with the 52°North Sensor Web suite of implementations. The workshop concludes with  a presentation of several exemplary applications of Sensor Web technology.
  • Introduction to Web-based Geo-Processing (90 minutes): The tutorial presents state of the art concepts for Web-based Geoprocessing. This includes the OGC Web Processing Service standards, as well as relevant REST-APIs. An introduction to the 52°North Web-based Geoprocessing tools and best practice examples of applications relying on this technology completes the workshop.

The main conference day is Tuesday, August 29th. It concentrates on presentations (see conference topics) and reports on user experiences. Wednesday, August 30th, is an interactive workshop day focusing on the discussion of user requirements, new technologies, future directions, and project ideas.

We invite contributions for the conference and discussion topic suggestions for the workshop. Please send a title and brief abstract of approximately 50 words to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
