Description

The INSPIRE hands-on Training session "Introduction to Sensor Web Enablement" takes place on March 12, 2014 at the KU Leuven's Geo-instituut in Leuven-Heverlee, Belgium. This is one of four current hands-on training sessions organized by the ‘Spatial Applications Division Leuven’ (SADL) of the KU Leuven as part of activities in the smeSpire project. It is open to anyone dealing with interoperable provision and exchange of observation data.

52°North's Simon Jirka discusses the principles of OGC Sensor Web Enablement and the standards for modeling and encoding measurement data, as well as sensor metadata. He also addresses web services for providing access to observation data, controlling sensors and event notification and discusses typical application scenarios for the Sensor Web technology and different approaches for the deployment of Sensor Web Systems. Hands-on exercises enable participants to interact with the OGC Sensor Observation Service.

Participation in the seminar is free of charge, but registration is required.
