The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) announced the recent successful completion of the OGC Incident Management Information Sharing Internet of Things Pilot Project (IMIS IoT Pilot). The project was launched to demonstrate open system sensor integration for emergency and disaster response. 52°North was one of the technology providers for this project.
52°North's annual Sensor Web Workshop, held at the Insitute for Geoinformatics of the University of Münster at the end of 2015 surpassed expectations. More than forty Sensor Web practitioners met and shared their experiences with Sensor Web activities and identified next research and development steps.
The EUROFLEETS II project announces a workshop on Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) for Oceanography on March 15, 2016. It takes place during the Oceanology International 2016 in London, UK. 52°North's Simon Jirka will explain Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) and its components (SensorML, O&M, SOS), introduce PUCK as an alternative, describe state of the art technology and provide a number of examples.
During a recent meeting at the Joint Research Institute (JRC) in Ispra, 52°North's Simon Jirka explained how Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) technology makes it possible to use heterogenous observation data within spatial data infrastructures and especially the INSPIRE context.
