52°North is the main sponsor of the upcoming "Handling and Analyzing Spatio-temporal Data in R" Workshop in Münster. The workshop takes place from March 21 - 22, 2011 prior to the Spatial Statistics 2011 Conference 2011. Organized and hosted by the Institute for Geoinformatics (University of Muenster), it is open to researchers, developers, R programmers, R users, OSGEO users/developers interested in R.

Workshop topics include but may not be limited to:

• how to analyse spatio-temporal geostatistical, point pattern and lattice (areal) data
• modelling and representation of "track" data
• R perspectives on vector vs. raster representations for spatio-temporal data
• GIS, spatial databases and R for high-dimensional spatio-temporal data sets
• 2D limitations in GIS and its relation to true n-dimensional data models such as NetCDF?
• storage and access of NetCDF? data versus rigid "regular" raster model in GIS
• bridging spatio-temporal data access services (e.g. sensor web enablement) with analysis in R
• representing changing political boundaries.
