2012-05-24 The first local conference focused on Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial in Central and Eastern Europe (FOSS4G CEE) was held in Prague. It attracted approximately 160 participants mainly from research and development. True to its slogan “exploring horizons”, 52°North demonstrated its penchant for innovation and addressing new topics, such as BigData. Presentations included UAVs for collecting massive real-time sensor data, a streaming WPS for handling big data streams and a WPS AppStore for bringing geoprocessing functionality to BigData and not vice versa. In addition, a number of developers joined Geoprocessing Community Leader Bastian Schäffer for a “WPS Birds of a Feather” meeting. The group decided to address the remaining WPS interoperability problems, review and extend a OGC WPS Interoperability Best Practice paper and incorporate the results, such as identifiers for UOMs, geometry specific processes or WMS output, in to the WPS standard. They also decided to work on a common Client for the WPS. An OpenLayers client should provide the basis. |
