2011-07-05 52°North's expertise in Sensor Web Enablement was in demand at a recent Sensor Web Event organized by Geonvoum, the Dutch National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) executive committee. The event comprised two day long sessions. On June 22nd, 52°North prepared and held a training session about the OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) framework. This workshop, which took place in Amersfoort (The Netherlands), introduced approximately 30 participants to the SWE architecture and practical applications. Furthermore, the participants were able to try out the Sensor Observation Service (SOS) interface during a hands-on exercise and gain direct experience on how an SOS can be used in practice. The second session, held on June 23rd at TNO in Utrecht (The Netherlands), had a more general focus on sensors and the Sensor Web. Several speakers presented very interesting projects and examples showing the applications of sensors and sensor networks. During this event, 52°North's Sensor Web Community Ledaer Simon Jirka from 52°North presented an introduction to the Sensor Web technology, upcoming developments and examples of practical applications.
