The "CargoWeakSpots" project wins the DB Cargo Data Category at last week's fifth DB Open Data Hackathon! A team of developers from 52°North, the Hochschule Bochum and Esri Germany competed in the DB Mindbox event in Berlin.
The Deutsche Bahn (DB) has initiated the series of hackathons to unleash creativity and generate added value from open data they provide. Mixed teams of developers and designers work to turn ideas into working prototypes in less than 24 hours. Arne de Wall (52°North/ Hochschule Bochum), Sebastian Drost (Hochschule Bochum/ 52°North) and Michael Marz (Esri Germany) used ArcGIS products to analyze delays of over 4000 cargo operating points. They successfully implemented some web-based tools for exploration and routing. Their work was honored with first prize in the DB Cargo Data category!
